This is Yuki Ito's special rod for fishing for the wide Amago, also called Tanabira, which grows in the main rivers of Kiso, Shinshu. She was custom-made by MPW (Megabass Performance Works) to embody Ito's knowledge and vision after 13 years of fishing the Kiso Tanabira. Sandalwood, a rare tree, was chosen for its “precise bait guidance,” “continuous high-speed snapping,” and “instant bite detection (hand sensitivity)” to target and harvest Tanabiras. The rod is made from a special short length blank and is primarily designed for twitching. The GH65 allows you to comfortably pluck heavy sinking minnows day after day in dense currents that feed tanabiras. It is specifically designed for reaction fishing to attract fish up close, hook up lightning fast bites and land the best fish in the shortest amount of time without being tossed around by strong currents. The high-torque “Tanabira Special” shaft covers a wide power range, allowing you to fish with a variety of baits without fear, not just on headwaters, but anywhere.
